Socialite: Easy Social Media Management
Posted on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

There are dozens of great Twitter applications on the market today. Many of them have started to integrate support for other social media services. One of the new kids on the blog is a Mac application called Socialite. Socialite is fully featured social media app that gives the old school apps a run for their money.
Socialite is a Mac only app. The tool offers support for Digg, Facebook, Flickr, Google Reader, RSS, and Twitter. This alone sets in head and shoulders above many of the apps on the market today.
Socialite offers advanced support for many of the cutting edge Twitter features. The most notable in my opinion is the excellent support for Lists. Twitter Lists offer a simple way to keep track of your many followers. They also support the new Retweet feature.
Some of the other notable features of Socialite:
- Saved Searches for Twitter
- Upload Photos to Flickr and Facebook directly from Socialite
- Lightbox style image previews
- Multiple accounts for each service
- True Growl Support
- IT’S NOT ADOBE AIR!
Socialite just came out of beta and still has a few bugs. It has crashed a few times in my testing, but hasn’t been too bad. I look forward to seeing how it progresses. Already out of the gate Socialite is a wonderful app.
The free version of Socialite allows you to run three concurrent services. If you need more than that, you can buy the full version for $20.
If you are looking for a fully featured social media management tool, Socialite is the best tool available right now.

I’d be curious to see if they are going to make this for PC users. Probably not, I’d assume, but it looks like a kickin’ app. Still, in the back of my mind, I’m always thinking that social could instantly die out as fast as it came upon us … but then again, it seems to be moving quite rapidly and progressively at the same time.
Who knows what the future holds? Until then, I hope they (the people a lot smarter than myself) keep creating cool and unique tools to make our web experience smoother. Thanks for posting this Vin.
Until there is something similar for PC, I would recommend using Seesmic for Windows. It is a new product that was launched by Seesmic, and it is GREAT! I am sure as they grow they will add more services to it as well.
Seesmic also has apps for Android, Blackberry, an Adobe AIR App, and a Web App.
