How to Become a Great Urine Specimen Collector

When I first started to learn about design I was all over the place. I started taking courses on Photoshop, CSS, Flash, HTML, PHP, Javascript, Desktop Publishing, Photography, Typography, Illustration, and the list goes on. I was determined to learn every skill related to design. But as I grew up in my skills and knowledge I quickly came to the realization that this was not the best course of action if I wanted to become a really great designer.
In years past I have been known as a “jack-of-all-trades” designer. I spent my time designing everything from websites, logos, magazine ads, product labels, and everything in between. After a couple years of doing this I quickly realized my passion was in websites. And even more specifically, small business and ministry related websites that are built using WordPress.
I have spent the last couple years narrowing my focus and developing those skills so that I can be the best at what I do. This discipline has taught me a valuable lesson about being good at anything:
If you want to be great at what you do, focus on it.
This sounds so cliché, but it’s incredibly true. Experience has taught me that I am not good at everything. So if I want to be a great Web Designer, I need to stop designing clothing labels! If you want to be a great Painter, you need to stop sculpting. And of course, if you want to be a great Urine Specimen Collector, you need to stop taking blood.
