Announcing Salem Tribe: For Web Folks
Posted on Saturday, September 5th, 2009

I have several friends locally who are into graphics, web, design, blogging, twitter, and other web geekery. It dawned on me that there is no real networking opportunities for us in the Salem area. So my friend Bo Lane and I decided to do something about it. We are starting a new group called Salem Tribe.
This group is an outlet for like-minded individuals that share a common passion for social media and the creative online community (blogs, website development, graphic design, the internet, etc) to get together and learn how to better utilize these resources – and the relationships we will build – to further us as leaders in our community and in our respective fields. As we gather together, we’ll explore new and creative mediums and learn from people smarter than we are – as well as allow corporate time to ask questions or share some tips you and I have learned along the way.
Our first meeting is Monday, October 5th at 6:30pm. We are going to meet at the Ike Box. We have secured web guru Aaron Hockley to lead our first meeting. He will give a talk entitled “Social Media: Ignore the “Experts” and Build Influence Naturally”. It is sure to be an awesome time of learning, networking, and coffee drinking.
We have posted the event on upcoming.com.
Hope to see you there!

I am getting really excited about the launch of SalemTribe. I think that, for geeks like me, it will be a great outlet to meet people locally who are trying to accomplish similar tasks for their businesses. I am looking forward to learning from others as well as giving others things that I’ve learned as well. Fun times…
Me too! I can’t wait to see what kind of turn out we have.

I don’t run my own business, but I am interested in Salem Tribe. Would an average nerd, such as myself, gain anything in attending? Would that even be desirable?
Geoff, you are exactly the kind of person that needs to be there. And spead the word too!
